There are a lot of ingredients that go into writing a book. You have to start out with an idea. Once that idea takes root it takes a hold of you and won't let go. That's how it happened with me when I wrote Quantum Earth. Once I started writing it took me only a few months to finish. I researched all about natural disasters that are supposed to culminate with the end of the human race in 2012. I read everything I could get my hands on about thought creating form. I created characters that had many different traits and mannerisms. They argued and a couple even fell in love. I introduced alien life in the Starborn Ones, who were willing to do all they could to help humankind. And of corse there's the bad guy. He's got the money backing this team of metaphysical scientists in their work. He also has a very nasty spirit guide who was once incarnated as one of Hitler's evil scientists. Writing a book is like following a recipe for the most wonderful dish you can make. It's an incredible experience. While I was busy editing my book and sending out queries I was also writng another book titled Deadly Lucidity about a woman who has very real dreams and even more real nightmares. I finished that book the day before Quantum Earth was released. Now it's back to editing. I like to put my book away for a few weeks before I start the editing process. This gives it time to "breathe." I think anyone who has the will to write a book should do it. First of all by reading everything you can get your hands on in many different genres. This helps your mind get into the rhythm of writing and how it flows. Then read some books about how to write. Writer's Market has an excellent collection of these on their website. You can look for them there and then buy them used on amazon or half.com. Or even get them from your local library. There are limitless possibilities when writing your book. | |
